@Canageek @siderea In regards to mail: I'm sure the service itself was faster, but any editor of a journal would be giving it to his (and yeah, almost all men) secretary, who gives it to the mail person, who probably then takes it to a central location on campus, before it even enters the postal system. So you put it in the out box and at best it enters the postal system the next day.
