@_holger@mastodon.social One of these is an authoritarian government that acts completely irresponsibly, the other a democratic one that is bound by laws. Sad but true: it is clear that Europe will cave in, while in the US the company is facing the threat of being broken up.

@_holger@mastodon.social Choose your battles carefully. An enemy of my enemy is my friend. If Apple decide not to comply with the "Chat Control" law (if it comes into effect) then we should take that as some sort of win against that draconian proposal. #ChatControl

@_holger@mastodon.social Holger Krupp Apple to Europe: „Your laws are bad for us, therefore we are withholding unrelated features from your citizens This citizen of Europe is withholding money from Apple by a total boycott of apple products and services. I also encourage others to do the same.

@_holger@mastodon.social This just says "We like legislation which boosts our business. If you country has legislation which compromises that, go change your laws to accomodate us" Europe to Apple: Go f*ck yourself. You need us, we don't need you. We make the rules here, not you. If you want to do business here, accept the rules like every other company. You're not special. And we're certainly not going to change the law just for you. You don't even pay taxes in most European countries.

@_holger@mastodon.social unfortunately that is the difference between operating in a democracy and operating in a fascist authoritarian regime, they feel free to play manipulation games against the EU because they know there won't be any punitive attack against them beyond the laws that have been enacted to protect the consumers, whereas if they piss off the big fat orange turd they know they could find themselves being attacked or murdered by masked thugs in their own homes...
