I have IPv6 service but I would have to investigate if it’s static or what the deal is with it.
But 1. IPv6.rs comes with a static IPv4 address, and 2. I guess that’s part of my question, is this different than port forwarding? My ISP router is pretty locked down, I need to get my own firewall and get them to put it in bridge mode to do something like port forwarding.
I just want to avoid opening my home internet to the world without taking proper precautions.

@kemotep @dlakelan if its just for personal services you could do something like tailscale, but if its public yeah that could be interesting as an alternative to needing to maintain your own proxy in a hyperscaler vm.

@kemotep My guix router setup by default has several vlans. one of them is a DMZ. so I'd follow that similar methodology, put what youre hosting on in a separate home VLAN and firewall it from your proper home LAN.
