@ELS You're right. It's a very big deal and people aren't reacting strongly enough to the dismantling of government agencies, and it's happening fast.

@ELS Next step, the Congress and Senate are disbanded by Trump and all power is consolidated to the Fuhrer.

@ELS This is only the latest in the monarchic turn of the USA. I’m serious. Really looks like you have basically an elected monarchy in there. Just never really came to light, as there was not a malignant enough narcissist in the position before. There’s no plans. None of this makes any sense beyond just the emotional needs of a mentally unstable person plus an army of sycophantic public servants and journalists sanewashing it 24/7.

  • @ELS Why can we not have professionalism in politics? Where cut proposals have to undergo impact assessments. Ideology becomes whim. Do what you like as you do have to justify. There is probably near zero justification for all these sackings.

@ELS in which science suffers another decisive defeat in a battle it did not see coming. If the cause of science is going to win this war it will need to get it's act together. Is science a human centered endeavor? Does it not require healthy interested humans who want to understand the world they live in to exist as an enterprise? Does science as a cognitive project of developing consistent logical descriptions of the world we live in not require humanity to fulfill it's purpose? Start from there.

@ELS Trump is going to destroy decades of research work, taking away any chance for progress in sciences if he keeps going on like this. This is even more of a crime than all his robbery of public funds.

@ELS The orange menace wants to destroy what he doesn’t understand. Last night I came across yet another good scientist who moved to the EU because of the USA catastrophe.

@ELS Man hates the idea that anyone can measure any kind of objective reality that could conceivably contradict him. That anyone can know anything at all, without his say so.

@ELS - probably failed science in school and is taking retribution now. Stuff he doesn’t understand (which is a lot) constantly under threat.
