@LawrenceGerald@poa.st I imagine if the dog had seized it he'd be stinking too.
Do you normally get this many snakes around this time orf year or might there be a population boom or displacement due to construction/drained wetland or something?
If they're dangerous I would kill them without question. I never like having to kill animals but I'm quite strict about coming down hard on dangers near my home or livestock.

most of Texas has been having drought through the fall and winter and in March we had temps up to 100°F almost every day with no rain. that is very much not usual. then, in April, it became cool and wet. I don't know what it is exactly that's sending water sneks all the way up the hill from the creek, a distance of hundreds of yards. some years I see no sneks directly. this area in general is known to be full of every kind of snek.
