@rtn That was my initial thought too. It was only when I graphed speed vs. time in my head that I saw, "oooh, the line for speed=100 is only half as long, so the average can't be 75km/h."

@tty The speed back has to be 150 km/h for the average to get to 75, if my calculations are correct

@tty @rtn this is a fascinating subject to me… how easy is if for you to create plots like that? Like how much mental work do you have to do to get the slope right?

@tty Graphing it is a good way to help out with the intuition here I think. The key here I guess is that it's 50km/h for so much longer time right? This is why the average speed isn't 75, which it would be if the second leg of the trip was longer.
