We visited the great blue heron rookery yesterday. This is the third year of the drought. Last year there were at most half as many nests as the year before. This year there were half again as many. If we don't get rains to fill streams and ponds and let fish reproduce, great herons will become rare here. You can see it happening in real time. #climate #birds
