We wrote a new #AI usage policy for #MapLibre. I respect projects that ban AI outright. It was discussed as an option, and it's not unthinkable we will ever go there. https://github.com/maplibre/maplibre/blob/main/AI_POLICY.md tl;dr: don't let AI speak for you, disclose AI usage and verify AI assisted contributions before marking a PR as ready for review.

We changed that last point from 'verify before opening a PR', because I noticed a lot of people these days are opening PRs with vibe coded bugfixes and feature implementations. They're basically bug reports and feature requests in PR form, and I find they can be a good starting point for a discussion or a proper fix or implementation.

I’ve seen this in a few places now and I’m kind of curious what the purpose is. What does it help ina assessing? To me it feels unnecessary as the contributor is held responsible for their code. Citing a specific tool seems to distract toward the tool rather than the merits of the contribution.
