@oxy@social.bsdlab.au sweet! Feel free to ping me if you’ve got any questions! I can also send some good recorded talks about it later if you’re interested.

New on the blog: Setting up a Network Bridge with a Mini PC from AliExpress. With some fun side effects of switching some traffic to IPv6! https://blog.ianwwagner.com/setting-up-a-network-bridge-with-a-mini-pc-from-aliexpress.html #FreeBSD #HomeLab

The open internet really is making a comeback IMO. Around 90% of my personal communications now happen over federated networks (mostly Matrix). Blogging has never felt more alive. I subscribe to ~100 RSS feeds. We're all here on the Fediverse, and the UX of clients and the web has improved to the point that it's better than the walled gardens! Heck, I even set up an IRC bridge on my Matrix server last night 😂 Even with all the terrible stuff going on in the world, there's a bri...

That part of a long journey where you’ve been awake for 24h, and as soon as you drop your bags at your temporary home, you’re like… nein mann ich will noch nicht schlafen 🤣

RE: https://en.osm.town/@stadiamaps/116674682343517843 OpenStreetMap is unique in terms of the depth of attributes you can add to the graph. We’ve seen so many use cases in routing that wouldn’t be possible without OSM and the way it empowers local communities to map things that are important to THEM. Excited to be talking about this with others this week at Micromobility Europe :)

Walking down the street and I see posters for one of my favorite DJs! I already saw him live several times in the US, but I think it will be special to see him in his hometown. And the weather is great for some open air dancing… as long as it doesn’t rain too much… Maybe I should get some spare shoes 😅

Filter coffee, not people. Seen in a Berlin cafe. A message more necessary than ever.

Love of word play must be somewhere deep in German DNA 😂 And I find this sort of thing irrationally amusing for some reason.

My favorite SSG, marmite (which powers my blog) now depends on 99% less external JavaScript! Big shout to @fasterthanlime for the fantastic arborium crate, which we’re using now in Marmite for build-time syntax highlighting. Faster loads, no flicker, and less JS ftw 🚀 https://marmite.blog/marmite-0-3-0-release-notes.html #rust #rustlang

First of probably many posts about my wacky and wonderful new homelab setup. This is a high level overview of the setup. I’ll cover more specifics later. Maybe interesting if you’re curious about other ways of hosting besides the usual Linux and Docker setup. https://blog.ianwwagner.com/overview-of-my-new-homelab-setup.html #FreeBSD #OpenBSD #HomeLab

Wow… requested a VPS with @OpenBSDAms this afternoon and 2h later I got an email with the details! Amazing service from a cool project that donates a tremendous amount to the OpenBSD foundation ❤️ Quite excited for my first steps into the OpenBSD world. (Somehow I never used it despite using FreeBSD for so many years.)

#soundOfTheDay from one of my favorite DJs - Yotto. His filmed sets are an absolute treat. Not only is the music great (and this time many unreleased tracks paired with his own remixes of others’ work), his goofy personality really comes out in the videos 🤪 This is probably my favorite of the “very cold DJ set” series already, given that I’ve watched it 3x in the past 24h lol. I’ve also added the location to my bucket list. It’s even well mapped in #openstreetmap! https://www.youtube.com/watc...

오늘 한강 버스 탔다. 평화로 여행같은거 이찌만 1시간마다 출발은… 조금 불현해 ㅋㅋㅋㅋ 불편하지만 좋다. 나중에 더 좋을거같아요. 앞쪽에도 자전고 보관소 있습니다 😍 They finally re opened the river bus service after some initial delays and temporary closures. So of course I had to try… highly impractical for regular use to be honest but I’m glad they are trying finally after not having many boats of any sort in the river for ages. It’s quite relaxing! They also have a bicycle storage in the front!

Hot take: production(-ready) and enterprise(-grade) are just weasel words. You instantly lose credibility if you use them.
