@thibaudcolas @jong0uld AI tools cost money: You have to toss coins in the machine every time to get output, and with all the current big tech subsidies and their future needs to turn AI into a profitable scheme, then those inequalities will grow. So if the condition for building software is to have access to AI/LLMs, then this will mean building software is limited to those that can afford it.

    @thibaudcolas @jong0uld Open Source maintainers are paying the price of vetting AI/slop contributions. Lots of examples of this given earlier at the DjangoCon event itself in @paulox's talk. There's ALSO a cost for system administrators and open source hosts bearing the costs of intense AI scraping.
