Many people pushing to use AI tools in FOSS projects around... The environmental issue of course, but also to just swallow big techs's shit, to ignore the authorship/licensing/ethical issues, all that would be the opposite of what a FOSS project thrives to do. Aside from that, instead giving money to AI tools, why not pay a real person to help. Anybody is free do whatever they want at home of course (and deal with their conscience ๐Ÿ˜…), but my opinion is this just cannot be done as a FOSS project.

    @yorik I agree. I just cannot understand how so many people can fall in that trap. Yes, the tech is fascinating, but the consequences of its widespread use are frightening.

    @yorik LLMs are deeply problematic, they are enabling powerful people to build a world I don't want - however the problem here is the 'powerful people' bit. Stealing from open source software to build more open software raises a whole bunch of problems, but these are also the least of our problems. We know how to do convivial tools, quality, attribution and maintainability - we should insist on these things.
