@lifewithtrees @ImmedicableME love this framing. Both your original post and the difficulty with the term “demand avoidance” resonate deeply with me. I’m both afraid I’ll screw up, and highly desiring the ability to just be my autonomous self and self-determine what I get to do and when without the tools or timers or lists (or other people and their demands or disappointment or even anxiety about their potential disappointment) dictating that. It’s a dilemma. I like “persistent drive for autonomy” and it describes the feeling I have perfectly. But it still doesn’t give me a better approach here. Maybe it’s just about acceptance of how my brain works and that getting all the typical things done in the typical way isn’t the goal, and that following my self-determination and particular spirit is actually going to get me further in the long run. Hmmmm.
