Even normal people are finding each other online now.
When's the last time you saw strangers walk up to each other on the street, strike up a conversation, and walk away together as friends? I never saw that in my life, including before social media was invented.
I'm not sure why society is so atomized—why no one ever seems to talk to anyone except for business—but clamping down on social media is only going to make the problem worse.
Can we please stop making problems worse?

@argv_minus_one @quinn People always bring up how random IRL encounters are more "genuine" but so far I've mostly met weirdoes and superficial throw away acquitances. All my true, deep friends are people I originally met online and later IRL. A lot of them in time when online coversations were considered as somehow less meaningful. I again consider finding like minded people online the virtually only way to find truly like minded folk, unless you're a betting person and just find your soul mate sitting next to you on a train.
