@osm_tech just FYI; we are working on federated geooding for https://codeberg.org/Menschys/fedi-codebase This means the data can be distributed via fediverse instances. Instances can choose a slice of data, primarily by geohashes. Then only if an area is not supported, nominatim is asked by the users client. Usually these are areas not frequently wanted. The same is valid for tiles , so In a second step it might make sense to do this … (?)

@osm_tech Is it possible to implement a softer blocking method, such as blocking every fourth tile? Perhaps this would make the transition period less painful for users and also serve as a clear hint to app developers.
