@mpjgregoire @paige political parties have their core focus and interests, it took the Ontario liberals a long time to get to HSR too, still got cancelled immediately when the government changed.
Very likely that if the Liberals get in again in the 2030s they could well not do anything on rail until the second term. That’s why I think continuity of a decent idea is more important than the idea.

@paige I like HSR as much as the next Montréaler [0], but is the Alto project a decent idea at the current estimated budget? (I understand that to be $60B to $90B in capex; the opex is unclear.) That could pay for a lot of LRT or subway, to say nothing of hospitals and schools. [0] More, actually, for professional reasons.
