Sphinx and mkdocs are technically SSGs, but they're really not meant for general sites.
Pelican is pretty popular, but in my little use, I wasn't super happy with it. I think @aurynn uses it.
My recommendation for blogs is https://getnikola.com/, which has all the features you'd expect from a blog. @agmlego uses it for https://agmlego.com/ .

@mariatta https://teahouse.cafe/ is written in my own SSG, https://basicest.ivyleav.es/ . I don't recommend it for blogs, but it can be fun for sites where other options feel heavy. @pathunstrom is working on coulomb, a follow up to the seemingly-abandoned statik
