@EdtheChem So I talked to my dad who's a trained brewmaster about this and has a decent working knowledge of beer from around the world, he isn't aware of any UK beer using added ethanol, it's mostly pointless. he suspects this is a misunderstanding of the article writer, apparently 1.4 molar concentration ethanol is normally imported into the UK as beer for tax reasons, so that might be behind this?

@Canageek that makes sense with what I've heard/seen. A lot of UK Nitrokeg lagers are 4% ABV, but to reduce transportation costs are either brewed under licence or concentrated/reconstituted. The latter approach may well use such ethanol solutions.
