@Chancerubbage @Barbramon1 @oldclumsy_nowmad @CStamp This was ages ago. Probably all melted by now. Anyways, I found out more in the meantime. Apparently they are formed in the water as water freezes and due to the wave action. They then get push onto shore. Although I don't see how they would end up 50 meters up the beach.

@Chancerubbage @Barbramon1 @oldclumsy_nowmad @CStamp But then again the huge snowstorm at the end of January also caused a phenomenal surge being pushed from east to west through Lake Ontario that pretty much ended dead centre in Toronto. The balls weren't even in the water any more by the time I got there. But they were rock hard. Very difficult to pry off the ground.
