anyway, I'm going to have to hack together a custom 2.5-inch drive caddy which leaves vertical clearance above the m.2 wifi slot (because now there are vertical SATA connectors there), and either cut or completely remove the shell of my 2.5-inch SSD (which will be internal and live in the caddy), and also beg him to 3D print a FlexIO cover with a hole in it to route the SATA cable thru to the external HDD. I've never touched CAD or messed with 3D printing in my life. I suppose I should make a short video on this when all is said and done.

at least this time I'm dealing with an HP EliteDesk 800 G6, which unlike the G4, doesn't block the 2nd NVMe slot with the stock 2.5-inch drive caddy... we had to print a custom caddy for my G4 (a gift from an anon supporter) after I found out about that fun fact. I'll be opening that G4 up to swap DDR4 sticks in a few days, and it'll be the first opportunity to see if the caddy has melted at all, since it was printed with PLA.
