@tubetime@mastodon.social Hard to tell! Reference display for video circuits? I see the ammeter for the anode, but the plugs for hsync and vsync clocks is a tell-tale. Can't make out the plugs underneath. Curious!

@tubetime@mastodon.social When people say to me "Things were built better in the past" I think "why did so many of us have to change the channel with a pair of pliers?"... OR as the youngest sibling - why was my most important job that of a human "antenna"? So many shows watched with arms or legs held in the air, in sacrifice towards my brother and sister's viewing entertainment.

@tubetime@mastodon.social It's a test chassis. Basically the idea is that a customer wouldn't need to bring the whole television with the heavy CRT and cabinet to the repair shop but could instead just give them che driving electronics, which they would then connect to this

Maybe it's for testing CRTs even though it has its own one? "Horizontal" and "vertical" selectors with "H" units suggest that they are for the inductance of the deflection coils for example

@tubetime@mastodon.social in the 70s, rather than haul a broken 7 foot long, 200lb console tv back to the shop, we'd just pull the chassis and hook it up to a CRT substitution box like this.
