I co-designed this primer with @typographiesfr for the French Ministry of Education and "La Forge des Communs Numériques" (open-source platform for educational resources). A board of teachers was consulted to achieve the best result, and it is open-source! Marelle is not just a font, it's a family with much features and variants (extenders height, color font with guidelines, capital cursive and roman…) to accommodate different needs and uses. I really enjoyed collaborating with Laurent Bourcellier on the design and thanks to him we have beautiful images to show off this project. Check out https://marelle.forge.apps.education.fr for more info.

  • @rosaliewagner@typo.social @typographiesfr@typo.social Why is the “p” glyph's loop open like that? Is it common in France to write it that way?

@rosaliewagner@typo.social That's a lovely typography, cursive words are very legible and beautiful. I know it's designed for French, but it looks awesome in most Spanish words, just a few characters like á or ó are not there, amazing work. @typographiesfr@typo.social

@rosaliewagner@typo.social @typographiesfr@typo.social merci ! Très chouette. Et le choix assez courageux d’ajouter les accents aux majuscules manuscrites (déjà qu’elles sont encore trop rares sur les majuscules tapuscrites) ! Qui aurait mérité une petite page dans le pdf Documentation :)
