@vapaad with the kinds of things I'm doing now I'm fine with just using picaridin as a tick repellent, but when I finally move (and am likely to be doing more brush-clearing) I might have to look into permethrin. It freaks me out because it's so toxic to cats, but I know that's mostly when fresh. 😭
Also oh yeah good warning about picaridin repellent, that is NOT fun to breathe in. 😅

@idzie I don't use permethrin in Colorado myself, but I do/did when I'm in the Midwest! Ticks get so bad there that a walk in my favorite wildflower prairie would mean at least 5 ticks somewhere on Jinx (and since he gets monthly tick treatment, if I don't catch them they crawl off him and latch onto me 🥲) I grew up in a hunting family so just doing the boots and hats in summer and outwear in fall was normalized.
