If you believe open hardware laptops means open as in punch a Nazi every time they open their mouth and spew bile (as opposed to Framework’s definition of big open tent inclusive of Nazis), I suggest checking out the MNT Reform Next: https://www.crowdsupply.com/mnt/mnt-reform-next There’s work on a Wi-Fi 7 chipset (QCS8550) which is the only blocker for me updating my decade old Thinkpad. There’s even collaborative work with folks behind the gay iPod, Tangara! And it has multi-language legend options for their keyboard! Really wish they had Thunderbolt support planned to allow for just plugging in a single cable to a KVM switch, but that’s my only qualm You can also find the project in the fediverse: @mntmn The year is no longer 2020, it’s 2026 and there are more ethical options out there besides Framework Consider tossing a coin or two MNT’s way #OSH #FOSS

@sylvie @mntmn I've had the previous iteration (the MNT Reform "classic") for the past year and change and in that time I've had three different CPU cards in it, swapped between the trackball and touchpad modules, replaced a fuse I blew on the motherboard, and done a very minor physical mod to route the internal serial port outside. Not everybody will be up for that, but dang are these things great for me.
