It seems like I may have offended others by sharing this. That’s okay. We don’t all have to share the same opinion. I’m just of the belief that, when women say “men”, they’re speaking in generalities. If it doesn’t apply to you, it’s not about you, so announcing “not all men” is redundant.

@sandwich@mastodon.world this is one take I can't agree with. bigotry is bigotry, whether it's misogyny or misandry, it all sucks. same energy as trans people saying all cis people bad. or black people saying all white people are bad. all bigotry. stupid ass take this is the exact same take far right parties use here. "oh hey, moroccans are higher in the crime stats. so they must all be bad". it's a sweeping generalization, and it's racist af maybe let's judge people individually, by their ACTIONS, instead of whatever gender/color/country they're born into

"I'm a good guy and it bothers me that you're no singling me out when you talk about men's violence MORE THAN it bothers me that you're experiencing said violence". And the thing is- this is exactly why he is not a good guy and exactly why his "not all man" cry is invalid. Farida D.

@sandwich i think lots of men who say this identify with the group of men and treat the whole issue as a "us vs them" kind of dynamic, a sort of spinal cord reaction, a desire to protect the bros from an attack so to speak; it's not that they desire to dismiss anyone's experience, more like it kind of never occurs to them to consider it
