Just a quick reminder that this singular, beautiful, blue & white bauble is our shared home. May we keep it safe. The iconic "Earthrise" image, one of the most famous photos ever taken, was captured by astronaut Bill Anders on Dec. 24, 1968 from the Apollo 8 spacecraft. #EarthDay

@maxplanckgesellschaft@wisskomm.social Even if there was a cautionary story that said the barren moon was once a big beautiful marble too, and the people of the moon destroyed it all in a war over the last of their resources... there would still be billionaires on Earth researching it to find out how to extract every last resource and make weapons of such devastation.

@maxplanckgesellschaft@wisskomm.social I know we have shiny new earthrise photos, but this is the gold standard for the human-created category (in the Open division, just based on the primitive technology and time horizon involved, nothing will ever beat the pale blue dot photo🫡)
