@Sobtanian @harrybo Thank you! I will try with the hat and work my way up to the socks.
The main draw for trying socks is to have proper 100% wool socks for my daughter when’s she’s at her forest kindergarten in the winter. My biggest fear is her getting cold hands and feet.

@charlottellt @harrybo a great place to start with socks is the Winwick Mum Sockalong, it takes you through every step you need to knit a pair of socks: https://www.winwickmum.co.uk/sockalong However, you’ll need a lot more knowledge than just being able to cast on and knit, so do some baby hats and scarfs etc (even if you donate them to a charity shop) to practice then come this winter you can make your first pair of socks!
