Its all about "free markets" and "let the market decide" until you have competition that shows how full of bullshit you are and then you run to daddy Trump saying to stop these bad Chinese models from entering our market. The irony of OpenAI and Anthropic running to the government to save them whenever there’s competition and it’s this government that complains about “handouts” and communism.

Well: It's you who decided to spend a fuckzillion dollars harvesting information for a product that can be built by anyone anywhere, with terrible economies of scale, stinky asset devaluation over time, and absolutely no valuable use case for paying customers. Now the curtain opened and you got the goat, so you should pay the losses from your risk bonus savings.

@timnitGebru@dair-community.social It's ironic and silly, but it's also worth remembering that all their rhetoric is just excuses for keeping power in their hands. They don't care about the market being free or fair. They care about them and people like them getting to control as much of the world as they can. Their ideology is shaped around serving their interests, not any actual principles.
