@jbowen@mast.hpc.social kinda, yeah. Some. Seen a lot of people talking about it. I've collected up a bunch of things on it and will probably write about it at some point this year. Fascinating stuff

@jbowen@mast.hpc.social I'm curious too. I have a space on the small web. Little to see, though I feed my mastodon posts to the gemini capsule and I use telescope browser (Omar Polo) to browse all the following protocols. Otherwise I've nothing to add to the conversation. I never managed to gain traction. Go well. gopher://cousinsd.net gemini://cousinsd.net finger://@cousinsd.net

@jbowen@mast.hpc.social For me, it's like walking in city VS walking in a forest. On classical Web, everything is overcrowded. Adds everywhere, everyone rush. You go here because you live there, and it's practical to go shopping. Gemini is more like a peaceful plain or forest you go on weekend. There is not much to see, but sometimes you find a beautiful flower, or a nice bird. And if you met someone, you can have a quick talk with him/her and feel much more connected, because you are probably the only people for miles around.

@jbowen@mast.hpc.social It's a small act of resistance, but it's a step anyway! The #geminiprotocol seems to be more active than the #gopherProtocol , I find both interesting, but I must admit Gemini is a bit easier and more convenient for making a basic page with hyperlinks. gopher://sdf.org/1/maps Someone made an interface to some LLM from Gopher, did you know? Strange enough, both #gemini and #gopher keywords have now been taken for some IA shits so now even on the fediverse we have to deal with this :(

@jbowen@mast.hpc.social as I will get some free time I'll setup a #gopherhole on a cheap VPS. I prefer gopher because it can be accessed by vintage computers.

@jbowen@mast.hpc.social I maintain a gemini capsule. I mostly use it to share my own musings in a longer form, or to write cheatsheets and reference texts for whatever thing I'm working on so I can reference it elsewhere. I have no idea if anyone reads it, but that's kind of the point. I like being able to post into the void with no expectation of what I write being professional or marketable.

@jbowen@mast.hpc.social @mos_8502@studio8502.ca have you seen @andros@activity.andros.dev 's org-social platform? It uses HTTP (although I don't think that's a strict requirement) but not HTML.
