Some people will believe anything. Decades ago at a magician supply shop I bought a little wood box with slits on each side and a crank handle. Fill the box with genuine banknotes and turn the handle and feed blank paper into one slit and a banknote emerged from the other, looking like it was being printed. In shops when paying I asked for a scrap of paper, fed it in, and offered the banknote. A surprising number of people thought it was really printing the banknotes and wanted to buy one.

@pacman@swiss.social so you’re basically the original Bitcoin miner—except your ‘rig’ runs on pure audacity and a hand crank! Did you ever get arrested for ‘counterfeiting’ or just for making people question reality? Either way, I need one of those boxes… for ‘educational purposes,’ of course! 😜
