At #DjangoConEU2026, we had a community conversation about #Django and AI usage, hosted by @thibaudcolas and Laura Gates: We had a tiny sub-group of esteemed people (@jong0uld!), we talked about the "Who Gets Left Behind by AI". The framing isn't necessarily perfect (tempted to also argue "Who is free from AI"), but it's DEFINITELY a *necessary* perspective.. and one of the most critical ones.

@thibaudcolas @jong0uld AI tools cost money: You have to toss coins in the machine every time to get output, and with all the current big tech subsidies and their future needs to turn AI into a profitable scheme, then those inequalities will grow. So if the condition for building software is to have access to AI/LLMs, then this will mean building software is limited to those that can afford it.
