Najko Jahn, Nick Haupka & Anne Hoberz (@ahein1) published an important piece on inconsistencies in the @OpenAlex #openaccess classification. While this does not look good for #Openalex, I see this as an upside of having #openresearchinformation. Issues like this can be discovered, discussed + addressed. And the #library / #bibliometrics / #informationscience communities at large has an interest in it: we all benefit from better metadata. https://subugoe.github.io/scholcomm_analytics/posts/oalex_oa_status/ Thanks: @KaliuzhnaN @carelsne

@ahein1@academiccloud.social @OpenAlex@mastodon.social By the way: I think it would just be better if there would be a public ticket system, where people can see which issues are already known.

@hauschke@mastodon.social @ahein1@academiccloud.social @KaliuzhnaN@mastodon.social @carelsne@baudigital.social Yes, this is some great work, and spot on: these works need to be reclassified. We’re going to fix the inconsistencies right away, and then we need to track down the bug to make sure that it doesn’t happen to new works. 1/4

@hauschke@mastodon.social @ahein1@academiccloud.social @KaliuzhnaN@mastodon.social @carelsne@baudigital.social Sure, pointing out our bugs—i.e., where we need to improve—may not "look good," but it's something we welcome! As you say, we all benefit.
