@pockets Sure, it could be done. It’s just a matter of running a wire through the front firewall and into the cabin. There’s more than likely a wiring harness which already does this, just piggy-back on the route.

@FeloniousPunk So it's not an utterly wacky idea. That's a relief. Thank you! Would that be a complicated and/or difficult thing to do? (I'm not terribly worried about the expense, moreso about the weird looks or objections I'll get from the service centre when I ask them to do such a thing.)
