@naturepunk @Maker_of_Things I think that tells you something. They couldn’t refuse to care for grandad, but can’t bear the thought of you having to do the same for them.

  • @Susan60 @naturepunk I don't have children. If I had, I wouldn't want them to 'have that obligation' to care for me, either.

    @Susan60 @Maker_of_Things I actually offered to move in with my granddad after he had his stroke. I'd just got a flat around the corner from his house and expected to pop around almost every day as I had for the previous five years when I moved in. The family, quite rightly, pointed out that it would be wrong for me at 21 to give up my life to live with an old geezer as his carer just because I love him. I couldn't see past the love.
