@naturepunk @Maker_of_Things My BIL shared the care of his own mother in her own home with 2 sisters for 2-3 years. (1 sister insisted, mainly to preserve her inheritance. The other sister was a retired aged care nurse.) BIL carried the main burden - house & garden maintenance, all admin & was the back-up whenever sister 1 dropped out, which was often. It all fell apart when Covid came along. Both sisters were anti-vaxxers, they all got sick, & even with anti-virals, nurse sister & mum had heart attacks & nurse husband had massive, debilitating stroke. She now cares for him in their home, which BIL has modified. Very elderly mum is in care, visited several times a week by BIL but no one else…

@Susan60 @Maker_of_Things The thing that put my parents off was my Dad saw how much Mom had to do to care for his Dad when her own parents had died years before and they didn't want me, in particular, to put my partner through the same thing They know I'm soft when it comes to that sort of thing but also really unorganised and it would be Jen who did everything. That's why they got my sister to be the one to stop me doing it by making her executor of all the legal stuff. They thought about it
