It also interferes with getting healthcare for these issues, because doctors grow up in the same society everyone else does.
I'm not claiming that obesity would not have these consequences in the absence of fatphobia. I don't know that. NO ONE DOES. We can't, without having done the experiment, which no one has ever done.
I don't have solutions to propose here, exactly, except to always question your assumptions and try to be kind and decent. That can't hurt.

@stevegis_ssg I'm going to disagree with one little piece of this: weight (and skin surface area) serviced by the circulatory system has a mechanistic link to blood pressure. All the other stuff still makes it worse, etc... so I'm not disagreeing with the rest, but in a few situations (eg post weight loss excess skin removal) we have direct evidence of improved blood pressure. Slight chance the literature on this has changed since I read it so that's a caveat too.
