I was going to sell our old, not-yet-beater, but not-great-mileage Honda Fit to buy a used Nissan Leaf. But then our older kid needs a car for summer work (unusual for them), so despite them being a better driver than me, I didn’t want to give them a new-ish car, particularly because it will involve driving to a mountaineering camp (if they get the job)!
So I’m about to go test ride a new electric bike instead! WA state offers a rebate lottery, and I got picked—$300 credit!

I expect I’ll eventually get a Leaf. I was planning on a 2022–2024 model year (for battery warranty and features), but the CHAdeMO charging issue would be a problem if we wanted to reliably and easily use it for longer drives (we have a second car in good shape). Now I’m thinking about waiting for 2026 models to get discounted later in the year. That model switched to NACS. But they’re so expensive relative to used, maybe due to the charging issue.
