We all "value signal"
How we speak, when we speak, what we say, how we stand, walk, eat, buy, are all social signals. Who we make friends with, the jokes we tell, the jokes we laugh at, what we wear, how we wear it, when we wear it, why we wear it, are all social signals.
Who you find attractive and who finds you attractive is a fuzzy calculation made MAINLY by unconscious processing in parts of your brain that you know very little about, based on an information-dense feed

So, let's just dwell on this unconscious processing and data dense environment thing If you sat and wrote down the top ten things you find hot and are looking for, you are probably going to be about 90% wrong. That's because the deliberative and conscious part of your brain doesn't usually have a fucking clue what the rest of the brain is up to. Think of the conscious you as more the PR department than the operations room. It explains what you did after the fact, making up plausible reasons
