This second aspect of being transgender— which we might call gender incongruence— seems to pop up in some form across every race, nation, culture, religion, social class and background. Notably, every political background. Including ones I find awful. 6/

@Tattie rare take maybe but i Did choose this life, this way of being, seeing that it was absolutely an option not to, to try to conform or assimilate, and felt rather that it's safer in the front, and that the overton window needed torn a new one, in whatever terms I might've had at the time for similar sentiment

@Tattie I don't know. It sure felt to me like I chose to be nonbinary when I was a little kid. I remember it well. But I really don't know if the burst of emotion that powered it was from my sense of justice or some primeval sense of gender. I've started to wonder if that was connected to what I've felt ever since puberty started or if it was just coincidence that it more or less matched up. All I know is that it's not a choice now. The dysphoria is certainly not a choice.

@Tattie Yes, agreed. When I was a teenager in the 80s, many progressives referred to being gay as a "lifestyle choice". I always thought that was a stupid term, because who would have chosen to be gay in the 80s? Realising I'm non-binary made me happier, but life would have been simpler and easier if I was cis.

@Tattie 100%. The thing all the haters and uninformed megaphones out there don’t get is that there isn’t a cat in hells chance I would have chosen to make my life so damn difficult, nor so expensive, nor so all consuming. That despite this I am ploughing on is the strongest indicator to me that this is the right thing. Never had so much determination.
