It is ironic that the European Commission has introduced a verification method by which its citizens must have their smartphones with them all the time. https://theprivacydad.com/a-first-look-at-the-eu-age-verification-app/ #eu #ageverification #mobilephones #privacy @vonderleyen@respublicae.eu @EUCommission@ec.social-network.europa.eu

  • @theprivacydad@social.linux.pizza @vonderleyen@respublicae.eu @EUCommission@ec.social-network.europa.eu It's not ironic at all. Such evil surveillance is a goal of the EU. It is not correct that the program is "open source", as it's not even source-available - it's dependant on proprietary libraries and it's also only built with google's proprietary compiler.

    @theprivacydad @vonderleyen @EUCommission While that is true, I wonder who isn't carrying a smartphone all the time.

    @theprivacydad @vonderleyen @EUCommission Who hurt these pro-GooglePlayIntegrityAPI devs? https://github.com/eu-digital-identity-wallet/av-app-android-wallet-ui/issues/73 https://github.com/eu-digital-identity-wallet/av-app-android-wallet-ui/issues/29#issuecomment-3237003749 https://github.com/eu-digital-identity-wallet/av-app-android-wallet-ui/issues/11

    @theprivacydad@social.linux.pizza @vonderleyen@respublicae.eu @EUCommission@ec.social-network.europa.eu I agree and at the same time find that since most people already have a phone on them at all times, it seems like an obvious choice. What would an alternative to the mobilephone be in your opinion?
