@deobald@fantastic.earth It's particularly frustrating because the tools do actually work pretty well now in limited fields and usage but that's absolutely not how corps are deploying it. For some reason people seem convinced that it's a significant percentage of GDP or smth to improve code review, debug loops and discovering more security vulnerabilities vs. anything else that money could be spent on

@pojntfx@mastodon.social i saw this today in a "how many tokens do you get" thread, in one of the aforementioned networks: "No upper bound on tokens; probably a lower bound that gets you a talking-to in a couple months, I imagine, if you’re short of it. Weird." i'm hearing this story a lot. some companies are pushing harder than others and i've met at least a couple developers who seem like they're at the psychological breaking point because upper management is demanding 200+ person engineering orgs transform themselves into 10x slop factories in a matter of months. the crazy thing is that these companies have *good products with solid revenue models already* ... they're going to burn themselves to the ground. the fact that i don't often hear "yeah, we use it, but we use it to become more efficient/acute/effective by focusing on the hard stuff" very often tells me a lot about how well these software companies were managed in the first place.
