I wanna talk a TINY bit about the health consequences of obesity.
We don't know what they are!
All of evidence-based Western medicine (which identified and quantified certain correlates of obesity in health metrics and outcomes) has happened in a fat-phobic society. People who have lost a LOT of weight have reported feeling bitter about suddenly being treated like human beings worthy of respect.
Fat people suffer a lot of microaggressions! (…)

And macroaggressions, sure. Mean comments. Rejection. But even beyond that, there's the trouble finding clothes that fit. The looks. The deliberate and sometimes performative non-looks. All of this is stressful. Stress raises certain hormone levels. It suppresses your immune system. It raises your blood pressure. It's bad for your heart. It causes … basically all of the medically identified "health consequences of obesity." (…)
