@FediThing Yes, at least for fuel purposes. Many, many other products are dependent on oil as well, that will be a difficult transition, but ceasing oil as fuel will be an important first step.

@FediThing Climate change was already flagged as a national security threat in the US, but at least half the politicians seem to be paying attention to it because of fossil fuel lobbying

@FediThing Unfortunately, there is one political persuasion that you forgot in this: people paid off by oil execs. Sadly, that's most of them. They don't care if hurricanes rage across the globe destroying everything and everyone or if nukes are dropped tomorrow. Today they bought a new (gas guzzling) yacht and can party hard. Everything is someone else's problem.
