@djlink@mastodon.gamedev.place I read the news maybe once every couple weeks 😆 done wonders for my mental health which gives me so much time to focus on things that actually matter to me and things I can actually change in the world 😤

@djlink@mastodon.gamedev.place It's just piling on at this point. I've used up my quota of anger for the next ten years.

@djlink@mastodon.gamedev.place Happened to be reading this today when I saw this, seemed related. Excerpt from "Imperial San Francisco: Urban Power, Earthly Ruin", Gray Brechin.

@djlink@mastodon.gamedev.place that's what I've been doing for the past few years. I aggressively filter it out of my masto feeds, too. I do all I can to make the world a better place. I fix the problems I can fix. I vote for people who want to fix problems. I donate money to causes I believe in. I can't do anything at all about 99.9% of what's in the news, I get emotionally invested in everything, and I simply no longer have the resources. I can't do anything about problems on the other side of the world to me, or even most of the ones on the same side. I've got to just focus on the ones I can. Hearing about the ones I can't is torture.

@djlink@mastodon.gamedev.place I get my news only from memes on mastodon now. I'm better not knowing too many details.
