I suggest you run a benchmark against any given nostr relay. But yeah, sure. If everyone runs a single user GTS (tech savy). or maybe your software, I will try it sometime! Ever tried to run a mastodon for +20 people on a raspberrypi? (rich from any other perspective then westener) but you could always fall back on someone else's server and hope they never find you controverisal or are subdued to force you off, sure (well connected)

@setto @silverpill I actually run my Mastodon on raspberrypi. It's just one user and a librarian bot though. Also Lemmy, Pixelfed and a bunch of other tools. The single user experience has been great here. We could use a better suite of relays. But once you start federating with other instances with follows, boosts, and relays, you can watch your graph start to grow naturally. It's actually a made me appreciate social again. No firehose effect that you get from the big instances. And I truly get to control my feed. I would say such a thing isn't the path for non-technical users. But the tools are well packaged, open source, and freely available.
