I've been programming for <redacted> years (FML, I'm old), to this day, I still don't get why our peers don't take pride in our craft.

@manchuck For some it may have started as a passion, turning it into a job ruined their passion, but for most it's just a way to pay the bills. People who become doctors and lawyers for the pay and prestige; that happened to programmers too. For anyone who still cares, they're locked in an existential trauma feedback loop. I've tried convincing my coworkers but they're too scared about losing their job and trying to meet artificial deadlines. Me? I'm in denial that I need to work to live.
