I have dipped into BSky a couple times in the past few days to see some of the Artemis discussion, and there are a lot of good scientists there, but to me it is as unbearable as Twitter was with ragebait politics and unhinged conspiracy theories mixed into everything. There is no shield from politics chatter these days, but at least on Mastodon I feel like I have more control and there is less engagement-driven ragebait.

@kajord Mastodon filters are good. I see little from or about The Bad Place, the big annoying country that starts with U.

@kajord "Engagement driven." I never really thought of it that way, but you are exactly right. Most of that stuff is posted for sharing and likes. Since that stuff doesn't really matter here, I suspect we get less of it.
