Today @cwtsleiden launches the Leiden Ranking Open Edition - fully based on open data, and with underlying data and code made openly available:

Are rankings not a problem anymore if they're based on open data? Not exactly. But I do believe this is an important development, for threee reasons: 1) Open data provide the transparency needed to audit the data and processes used to generate specific indicators - which is crucial in deciding whether these indicators are a good fit for the specific purpose organisations might consider using them for. 1/
