Very proud of Utrecht University @utrechtuniversity for choosing not to participate in the THE 2024 World University Ranking (by not supplying information). That's how it can be done. https://dub.uu.nl/nl/nieuws/universiteit-utrecht-doet-niet-meer-mee-met-ranking (in Dutch)

Upon last week's news that Elsevier is following Springer Nature in having abstracts removed from @OpenAlex I've published a blog post looking more in detail at abstract coverage in @crossref and OpenAlex, and discussing some of the implications: https://bmkramer.github.io/SesameOpenScience_site/thought/202411_open_abstracts/ #openmetadata #openresearchinformation #barcelonadeclaration

Good news for Open Research Information! @OpenAlex is rapidly closing the gap in funding metadata coverage. We (re)used a dataset of NWO-funded papers and conclude that OpenAlex is now performing on par with Elsevier's Scopus and just slightly behind Dimensions - just a few months after the start of a Wellcome Trust-funded project to improve funding metadata. Full analysis w/ @HLdeJonge ๐ https://bmkramer.github.io/SesameOpenScience_site/thought/202603_open_funding_information/

Is there a relationship between the metadata publishers submit to Crossref and the submission systems they use? ๐ค In this new preprint with @HLdeJonge, we analyzed 153 publishers and 4 major systems to find out. ๐ https://doi.org/10.31222/osf.io/ndx3f_v1 #OpenScience #Crossref #OpenMetadata #Publishing

What's better than open research information resource? Multiple open research information resources that can be combined together! I'm happy to participate in ORION, an effort to coordinate amongst those making ORI resources available in the cloud, with an initial focus on Google BigQuery. We are keen to coordinate with all who are interested in supporting a community effort towards availability and reusability! Blog post: https://doi.org/10.54900/2pnyq-nhx95 Website: https:...
