like the state of ML tooling has genuinely gotten infinitely worse since prior to the AI boom, which is quite ironic
non-generative ML use is harder due to generative ML having made the entire ecosystem around it much worse

the only exceptions, i guess, are projects like brain.js which have been abandoned prior to the genAI garbage becoming big enough to pose a real threat - but also, do i really want to use brainjs? not really
