It's interesting to me that more and more black femme-presenting people are getting pushed out of their careers and having to make their own way with some kind of self-employment.
At first it's like, yeah, fuck that corporate shit! But, then it's like. Well, wait a minute. This isn't a just empowerment. Yes. It is, on one side, a story of resilience and endurance.
However, on the other side, it's a story of oppressive conditions and the oppressors that have enabled them.

Don't get it confused. What's happening right now isn't a one-off thing. It's literally resegregation, and it's occurring on a massive scale. Lost in everything else that's happening in the US right now, the country is reverting nearly every gain in desegregation that occurred during the civil rights era. I had this thought after talking to my mom and realizing that there aren't any black women in my near family that are employed right now. That doesn't happen in a vacuum. 2/20
